Library Services has a full-time Library Assistant post. A core part of this role sits in the Customer Services team and includes working on the Library Help Points to support students and staff in their use of the libraries. In addition, the post will focus on administration tasks within the Collections team including, but not limited to, the ordering, receipting, invoicing and activation of new materials on the Library Management System and other automated systems as appropriate, and assisting with the process to make all electronic resources discoverable.

Other administrative tasks as directed to provide student with the resources and services they need, including inter-library loans, reservations and tasks related to overdue, claimed returns and missing items, handling of materials including shelving of returned materials and stock moves. Support to the Director of Library Services, the Collections Librarian and the Customer Services Co-ordinator to deliver, maintain and develop library services to support the teaching, learning and research activities of the University. Key skills required include experience of customer services, excellent communication skills, IT skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

This post requires working at the Sheppard-Worlock Library at Hope Park and the Creative Campus Libraries, on a weekly rota basis. Late night and weekend work are also required.

The selection process will take place on Wednesday 9th August 2023 and will include 2 short tasks and an interview.

This post is permanent, subject to the normal probationary period of 12 months.
